Why is it that Velveeta Cheese is not always kept in the refrigerator in the grocery store?

Thursday Aug 14, 2008

The other day I was grocery shopping & I noticed that the Velveeta wasn't refriderated. I mean it is cheese right? Shouldn't that be cold? All the other cheese is kept cold.

After Velveeta is opened, it needs to be refrigerated. Remember, you're dealing with a "cheese product" and not a pure cheese. It's up there with some of the "jarred" cheeses, like the ones Kraft puts out and the ones that come in spray cans.

Does Velveta cheese need to be refrigerated before it is opened?

No, because when you buy it at the grocery store it's just setting out on a shelf. But you definitely refrigerate it after you open it.

Do the streaky marks left behind from windshield wipers remind anybody else of sliced velveta cheese?

Or is it just me?

lol. I thought I was the only one posting insane questions. In answer to your question, they remind me more of streaky bacon. Jeez, I'm hungry.
